Some of these parts of your vehicle should be checked regularly, and others only in the long run. The biggest hurdle is being aware of what needs to be done and how often for optimal vehicle upkeep. Check Oil And Coolant Levels for Car MaintenanceĬaring for your car and keeping it in proper running order takes a little bit of effort, but you definitely don’t have to be a mechanical whiz to keep your vehicle running well. And i do agree with a lift pump for your era truck. I also run Transynd in my tcase.Ĭat filters are much cheaper and filter down to a smaller diameter than stock. Pretty easy to change the fluid, probably will want to do a double flush to make sure it is all Transynd. Transynd is probably the best fluid for your transmission, kinda pricey but it's worth it IMO. Its not too bad to pull her off and put a pump rub fix in there. If there is fluid in there the tcase is probably ok. Can be tricky to find the hole if there is one, but usually the rear end is covered with grime as she leaks during movement and splashes up on the diff. An Edge Insight CTS will also show rates. A Tech II or EFI V2 will check balance rates. LB7's biggest issue are the injectors as I'm sure you know. Only reason to change it is if you go in there for some reason. I probably wouldnt worry about the internal filter for the alli. How much per tank?Īnything else I forgot to remember or otherwise don't know about? This is my first diesel, and the first 4-wheeled vehicle I actually care about, so I definitely want to take care of it. I've seen suggestions of adding 2-stroke engine oil to fuel to help with injector life.

What's the point of this and should I do this as well? I've seen mention on this forum of cat filter adapters for oil and fuel filters.Any recommendations or guides for replacing fluids in the transmission, transfer case, and differentials? Also, recommended fluids for this?.Would it be a good idea to do a fluid change on the transmission? How can I tell what condition the fluid is in? I've never done tranny fluids before.Options other than stitching or reupholstering? Any tips for repairing a rip in a leather seat? It was stitched up when I bought the truck but that didn't last long. How do I check my injectors? I know I'll need some kind of tool to check these, what should I get (or if possible, borrow)?.Is pump rub an LB7 issue, if so can someone link me to guides on this issue?.Anything else I should check for mechanically? I know there's a laundry list of known LB7 issues but I haven't memorized it yet.And of course a good vacuuming, washing, waxing, and Armor-All.

I'll have owned it for a full year at the end of this month. Once it warms up a bit I plan to spend a couple weekends doing maintenance and checkup on my '04 LB7.
